Good Morning, Please be advised that rental scams on properties listed for sale in our MLS and Zillow continue to occur. A Broker placed a private residence on Dolphin Drive in our MLS and Zillow for sale approximately two months ago. The home is vacant, but the owner lives very close. This past Friday the Broker received a phone call from a lady wanting to confirm it was for rent, because the yard sign only mentioned for sale. I responded it is not for rent. She said it is advertised on Craig's list. She made contact with the proposed owner, who said he and his family were in New York for the winter and they decided to put the property up for lease. If she would mail the rent check to him, he would mail her the key. Thank goodness this women did not fall for the scam. The Broker checked Craig's list and found the property, advertised at $1,200 per month. The listing included every photograph and the complete information package that was on the MLS and Zillow! According to this lady, the man's name is Lorenzo Bennett, at lorenzobennetthsb@gmail.com<mailto:lorenzobennetthsb@gmail.com> and his phone number is 817-677-8281. The Broker did not confirmed or confront the guy. The lady said she found another house on Dolphin Drive that was also being scammed, but she did not say which one. The Broker met with the City Police who said that they will contact Craig's List. Other than that, they just put it in their file because this lady was not scammed. We have contacted the other listings on Dolphin Drive to advise them to check Craig’s List for a possible rental scam. We are also going to follow up with Florida Realtors® Legal Counsel regarding these continuing rental scams. Thank you, Victor Victor J.
