Good Afternoon,

Please be advised that at the last MLS Board meeting the Board approved a motion to stop the practice of calling members prior to terminating MLS access due to non-payment of the dues and fines.  The monthly dues are owed on the last day of the month for the next months MLS dues.  If the dues are not paid by the close of business on the 5th of that next month a late fee is added.  If the dues and the late fee are not paid by the close of business on the 20th of that next month, the MLS access is terminated.  For example, the MLS dues notice for April is sent out between the 15th and the 20th of March with a due date of the close of business on March 31st.  If the MLS dues are not paid by close of business on April 5th a late fee is incurred.  If the MLS dues and late fee are not paid by April 20th the MLS access is terminated.  There are usually 40 to 50 members that fall within that category each month.

For the last several years, the staff would call each MLS member who has not made such payment by the close of business on the 20th to inform them that unless they pay immediately their MLS access will be terminated.

The rationale for the approval of this motion was that the staff spends a lot of time calling every MLS member every month to remind them that they are past due, have incurred a late fee and MLS access will be terminated if payment is not received.  That time and resources can be better utilized to provide more services to all of our MLS members.

This change will be effective with the billing for the month of April 2019.

Thank you,

Victor
