Good Morning,

I sent this notice out to Realtor(r) members on December 4th and I wanted to make sure that you, as the Designated Realtor(r) for your office, received the notice of the Leadership Academy being offered by your Board to you and the Realtors(r) in your office.

This is an excellent opportunity for you and your agents to receive leadership training that will benefit you and your office to more fully develop leadership potential.  As you know, this training will help attendees reach their potential as a leader and become more successful in their professional career as a practicing realtor(r).

The benefits of this Academy reach further than developing leadership qualities.  The attendees will better understand how  the local Board, Florida Realtors(r) and the National Association of Realtors(r) operates and the benefits of belonging to all three associations.  They will also learn how the County, the County Commission, the city of St Augustine, and the City of St Augustine Commission, operates and the services they offer.  There will be a special visit to the St. Johns County Seriffs Department and the city of St Augustine Fire Department.  This promises to be an eye opener even for a native of St Augustine.

We also know that your agents will listen to you and we hope that you will encourage them to submit their application to attend this inaugural class!

On behalf of President Ian and the Board, I'm very excited to announce a new program for you, the Realtor(r) members of our Association.  It is our very own Leadership Academy!

The mission of the St Augustine & St Johns County Board of Realtors(r) (SASJCBOR) Leadership Academy is to encourage members who have a desire to participate in the governance and growth of our Association to apply and develop their leadership abilities and become our leaders of tomorrow!

The SASJCBOR's Leadership academy is an intensive four (4) month program with graduation in May 2020.  It consists of a total of six (6) days within the 4 month program.  It will help you understand the need to get involved and how to achieve that goal.  Everything that you learn will help you in your real estate business, your community and with your family.

The Leadership Program involves learning through classroom settings, independent study and group/team-building exercises.  You will learn goal setting, networking and communication skills.

The Academy will provide the opportunity to understand how your local board of realtors(r) operates, how Florida Realtors(r), St Johns County, City of St Augustine, and City of St Augustine Beach also operates.  Graduates will be ready with the knowledge, skills and confidence to step up and become the future leaders of tomorrow!
Is the Leadership Academy right for you?
You're a good fit to apply if you have the desire to participate in the governance and growth of our Association and to apply and develop your leadership abilities to  become our leader of tomorrow!

The Leadership Academy class size is limited to a maximum of 10 participants each year.

What are the requirements and  time commitments?
To graduate you must attend all sessions.  Even if you only miss one session, you are not eligible to graduate.  There are no exceptions to this requirement.
Applications are due no later than 5:00 pm on December 13, 2019.  Applications can be faxed, 904-823-9512, emailed, ae@stjohnsrealtors.orgmailto:ae@stjohnsrealtors.org, or dropped off at the Board office, 1789 Lakeside Avenue, St Augustine, FL 32084.
Interviews for the SASJCBOR's Leadership Academy are conducted in person (no exceptions to this requirement).  The interviews will be conducted on December 19th and 20th, at the Board office.
Schedule Each Day:  9:00 am - 4:00 pm (Includes lunch)

  • Session 1:  Friday, January 17th at the Board office
  • Session 2:  Thursday, January 23rd at Florida Realtors(r) Mid-Winter Conference at Orlando.
  • Session 3:  Tuesday, February 4th at Florida Realtors(r) GARD at Tallahassee
  • Session 4:  Friday, February 21st at the Board office
  • Session 5:  Monday, March 23rd at the City of St Augustine Fire Department and end the day at City of St Augustine City Commission
  • Session 6:  Tuesday, April 21st  at the St Johns County Commission Meeting and end the day at the St Johns County Sheriff's Department
    Graduation:  Friday, May 8th at Restaurant to be named later.

How much does it cost?
A cost of $150 covers all training sessions, lunch, instructional materials and overnight accommodations, if required by the Academy.

As part of the application, you will need to answer several essay-type questions, describe your volunteer experience, and provide a resume, and a head shot.
